Ten labels to discover the evolution of Verdicchio.
At Vinitaly 2019, the Istituto Marchigiano di Tutela Vini (IMT) organized a tasting to reveal the longevity of Verdicchio from both Castelli di Jesi and Matelica Docs. The meeting was conducted by Ian D’Agata and Alberto Mazzoni (IMT director).
“We have chosen ten wines that are representative of this grape and of this land,” explained Alberto Mazzoni.
While the famous wine writer Ian D’Agata concluded the tasting stating:
“Those tasted today are world-class wines, comparable to the great Burgundy ones. These wines are characterized by a fantastic acidity, harmonious and important, which are one of the secrets of the great longevity of Verdicchio. These products are the best ambassadors that le Marche has to make known the richness of the territory, all the gastronomic goodness, but also to make known the work of these families of producers.”
“The credit goes to the producers but also to the Istituto Marchigiano di Tutela Vini, which manages to bring together both small and large producers, promoting the good of the territory. If these denominations have an export that growths more than 9% compared to a national average of a 3% growth, there is a reason and it is explained by the fact that the producers work together with a consortium that knows what it does. An example that should be followed by many other regions throughout Italy.”
